We understand that accidents are going to occur, and we have experts available to walk you through the claims administration process. Follow these steps immediately after an incident occurs.
- Step 1 — Complete the First Notice of Loss form.

How long until the injured employee will receive benefits?
In Virginia, there is a seven-day (calendar days) waiting period. Benefits would begin on the eighth day of disability. The initial seven-day waiting period is payable only after the disability exceeds 21 days.
What do I do if a provider calls me to authorize a referral and/or medical treatment?
Please refer the provider to the adjuster assigned to the claim.

Why should I file a claim?
Any time an employee has an accident that requires medical attention — or when in doubt — you should file a First Report to protect you as an employer and to ensure statutory reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
